Mitsubishi Motors, the world’s leading car manufacturers have extended the concept of one notch below by launching a smaller but sportier car the ASX compact crossover. It is another in the line of global cars for regions and hence has been named and specified to match it. It was incepted in Japan this February and is expected to hit the European after the premiere in this year’s Geneva Motor Show. So, by the end of this spring it will hit the European roads.

The introductory model sports an evocative Kawasemi Blue color just like the Concept-cX model which was unveiled during the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007 and was a huge success leading it to become a full fledged production car. Although the new Mitsubishi ASX bears resemblance with the Concept-cX models, it is slightly longer (20 cm) and also a little higher (6.5 cm). It retains the design concept “compact wedge” of the Concept-cX with a few variations here and there.

The most noticeable change is the overall shape which has been optimized using the enhanced size. The longer wheelbase creates a lower but more balanced silhouette giving a better integration to the wheel arches. The roofline, which has been designed to flow towards the rear considerably enhance the aerodynamic performance and adds further more to its dynamic style. The interior of the car has also been very well designed and gives the focus has been given to minutes details like form, material and trim, giving it a truly elegant look.

The concept RA has an all-wheel-drive system and provides active steering and damping control which improve the driver control and enhance the handling as well as the stability. It has a low emission 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine. The engine comes equipped with the unique Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system for offering valve timing control. The piezoelectric injector allows a lower compression ratio in the engine and is equipped with VD (Variable Diffuser)/VG (Variable Geometry) turbocharger. The concept RA has a very sporty performance and great fuel efficiency. It also complies with the U.S. emission standards and relies on an exhaust system.

Mitsubishi concept RA is made up of very lightweight material which results in decreased vehicles mass and gives improved performance, saves fuel and also makes it very safe. It has a very athletic look as the frame is made of aluminum and the hood including the other outer panels is made of recyclable plastic resin. It is 2-seater with twin clutch SST transmission and has a length of 175 inches. The width is 74.6 inches and the wheelbase is 103.7 inches. The maximum output is 210 hp and the maximum torque of the concept RA is 310 ft-lbs.

The new Mitsubishi Evolution FQ-330 SST is a perfect amalgam of style and functionality. It has been developed to fit in between the two great earlier car models; FQ-300 and FQ-400. This car model is capable of delivering an additional 29 hp and an additional 22 lb-ft of torque for 322 hp.
