The Toyota Prius C Hybrid Concept was a surprise-concept at the Detroit Motor Show 2011 by the Japanese automaker. This model was developed on the same hybrid drive grounds in which the the Prius V minivan was designed. The minivan family model was the much anticipated model by everyone. However, the Toyota Prius C Hybrid Concept came as a pleasant surprise to most who was awaiting for the show.

The Prius C is a sample that prepares the users of Toyota cars and those who like the car for a new member of the Toyota eco-friendly family. This new car is facilitated with a number of futuristic technologies of the next generation. Prius is expected to make its market debut next year.

As per a release made public by Toyota, Prius C is would work as the small alternative car and would wim several hearts with its low fuel consumption technique. This model basically targets the young customers of the Japanese brand.

Though, concept sketches can not be always relied upon, however, the sketch clearly shows the standard that the company wants to attain. With the set of unique headlights, the emphasis was on having a sporty look of the car. Moreover, from front to rear, the beltline also portrays Honda’s suggestive design.

The sketch also depicts a glass like roof, which is notable enough. Though not clear but it is expected that a glass roof might be an option given by the company. The size of the wheels was of normal-size unlike most concept sketches where they portray oversized wheels.

The Civic concept is going to be showcased at 2011 Detroit auto show in beginning of January and is restyled greatly. It is generally expected out of Honda to show concepts that more or less looks like the production cars. So, the expectation in the air is that the new Civic to be unveiled might have a very sporty look this time. For further update, we have to wait till the show commences.

With similar appearances, the various Mini models look quite comparable. That is why the company has worked on giving the new Paceman Concept a little different look for the upcoming show.

With features that are similar to the latest Mini Cooper model, the Paceman Concept car is quite large and mounted. Moreover, it is based on the Countryman, another new model from the same company.

Other specifications, as far as the concept design of the Paceman is concerned, includes leather cover on the outside door handles as well as on the cover of the gas cap. On the other hand, for the interior design, Mini uses the same features as used in the Countryman car.

Additionally, Paceman also has the rear bucket seats. Even the all-wheel-drive system of the Paceman concept is alike with the Countryman car. As per this feature, the wheel drive is biased towards front wheels but strong enough to put all the power to the rears. The engine of the Paceman Concept car is a 1.6-liter turbocharged based on the John Cooper Works. It has four-cylinder that produces as much as 211 horsepower.

January 10 and 11, 2011 are the two preview days for the 2011 Detroit auto show, whereas public days goes till January 23.

When the market crashed in 2008, Porsche had opted out of this mega event and decided to use other means to reach to its customers. But as the market looked up and its sales volumes increased Porsche reconsidered buying space at the event and here it is all set to showcase its latest cars.

Porsche’s sales have gone up by 23.5% by end of this August as compared to the figures during the same period last year. In 2008, it was only Porsche that had withdrawn from the show but the next year saw other car makers like Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Suzuki, Nissan and Rolls Royce follow suit. However, these car makers made the come back in the following years and Porsche will also finally join them in the next show.

The recession has forced most companies to cut down on their budgets and many car makers opted for alternate sources to introduce their cars. Auto shows are an expensive affair and car makers used other platforms like social networking sites etc to launch new models. But with the economy getting better, we hope these shows will once again witness the participation of the major auto makers. However, many are apprehensive if the shows will remain the same, as too many alternatives are there for the car makers.

However, there has been no confirmation on this from Mercedes. Although people from the inside have confirmed that a highly powerful version of the C-Class Coupe is expected to arrive soon, but refused to confirm when exactly is this going to happen.

Going by the rumors, this model is expected to retain the 6.2 liter engine that is currently being used by the C63 sedan. But there has been news that this coupe might be equipped with the company’s latest turbocharged units. AMG recently launched a double turbo 5.5 ltr engine (V8) engine but it seems too much for C-Class. So chances are that it might get the latest twin turbo 4.7 ltr, which is definitely not anything lesser. Even this makes it a highly powerful machine. The 5.5 ltr motor would be a perfect suit for the C63 AMG.

Other reports suggest that the latest version will not be a cabriolet version for the C-Class coupe. Now it remains to be seen if rumors come true and we get to see the latest from the marquee of Mercedes.

The Detroit Auto Show, which kicks off next month, is expected to be used as a fitting platform for the launch a hybrid concept by Toyota Motor Corporation. Toyota is the biggest name in the world when it comes to selling gasoline-electric hybrid cars. The model will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show and would be available only as a hybrid. This model has taken the total number of hybrids to seven which the automaker sells in the U.S. under its namesake and Lexus brands.

Prius which has the combination of an electric motor and a gasoline engine makes up for the major chunk of global hybrid sale for the company. According to Jim Hossack who is an industry analyst, the rise in the prices of gasoline may see a rapid growth in the demand of the stagnant market for the hybrid models. Toyota plans to begin the retail sale of a plug-in version of the Prius very soon which can be recharged using a household electric outlet. The mass sale of these vehicles may get delayed though because of the increasing cost of the batteries.

According to a study, the cost of the rechargeable autos may cost $18,000 more than a conventional gasoline car because of the lithium-ion batteries. Batteries are expected to get cheaper by 2030 and would go a long way in reducing the oil use and carbon pollution. Coming back to the new hybrid, the company has not revealed much information about the concept apart from the couple of teaser images.

The popular Detroit Auto Show is about to take place and so is the launch of many new car concepts. This year, you will get to see the launch of the much-awaited 2010 Fisker Karma car. This four-door electric hybrid car comes with a V-12 2.0L engine sourced from General Motors.

The new Fisker Karma S Concept car will also be displayed in this auto motor show. Priced at $87,900, this new car comes fitted with a 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec four engine from General Motors that can produce 260hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Jaguar XFR is all set to be released in Detroit Auto Show. This car will take over the present 420hp Jaguar car. Sporting many noticeable changes, this XFR car will be fitted with an engine that will keep intercooler temperatures down.

Watch out for 2010 Chevrolet Equinox debuting too in this show. Equipped with a new 2.4L base engine, this new Chevrolet car provides high compression with more complete fuel burn and low hydrocarbon emissions and improved power.

2009 Saab 9-5 Griffin Edition is also not to be missed during the auto show. With its five-spoke and 17-inch wheels, this car will be displayed in either Polar white color or any of its other six metallic colors.
