Motor freaks and all others who keep an interest on the cars, its designs, the latest entries and its latest technologies might have been keeping an eye on the happenings and the new launches made in the recent The 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). This is one of the biggest auto fairs in which the top models, its brands, the technologies integrated in it and then the possible concepts of the future cars are being discussed. Started on 9th of January, the show unveiled lots of news and stories of the car lovers and here you can have a brief peek on the important events and also on the inauguration of some of the heart-throbbing models that have been put forward by the leading manufacturers of countries like Korea, America, Japan and Europe.
Nissan
The new introduction from the house of Nissan will be a completely new and out of this world concept that will bring great enhancement in the technical capacity of the car. Named to be a Pathfinder, the very new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will surely be awaited eagerly as the revolution in the technology will show use of a Monocoque chassis (unibody) in place of the Navara framework. Another introduction by Nissan would be an e-NV200 small van concept.
Ford
This auto show by Detroit has turned into a biggest platform for Ford where they are commencing the birth of the Ford Fusion. From the use of the technologies and the comfort level promised by the Fusion, the capacity of the next-generation Ford Mondeo can very well be guessed. However, the developments and the style used in the Fusion can be seen to be influenced by the recently launched Ford models Focus, Escape and Evos.
Hyundai
Hyundai undoubtedly is the best and world famous Korean manufacturer that is launching its brand new Veloster Turbo in the Detroit Show. The selling and availability of the model have already been confirmed to Australia and is special for its use of 1.6 T-GDI powerplant.
Toyota
Toyota will launch it’s another hit, a hybrid car, the NS4 and is sure to be sporty and unique in its technologies and functioning. The features of the car have not yet been revealed but still it can be hoped to be inspired by the existing models like Prius, Prius V and Prius C.
Mercedes-Benz / Smart
Marcedes is bringing a very new model to the market made of an aluminum body, a new SL Roadster along with two E-Class hybrids. The aluminum body of the car is making it weigh lighter than the previous model although it is a bit longer than the other. The first market to hit by this Roadster would be the Australian market and that is expected to be by the third quarter of 2012.
The other two hybrids- the E300 and E400 hybrids will carry an application of electric motor in an E-Class and this would be the first of its type. The hybrids will have a 2.1-litre turbodiesel (E300) and a 3.5-litre V6 (E400).
Chevrolet
The Chevrolet showcased its Sonic RS which also even gives a little bit of hint on its another new arrival the Holden Barina SRi. The Holden is in agreement to be sold in North America, but have no plans for Australia which will be decided after seeing the response in Detroit.
Dodge
Dodge Dart compact sedan, showcased in the auto show is a must-watch and worth-admire which has replaced its earlier model Caliber.
Lexus
Lexus is introducing its new the Lexus LF-LC which can be termed as a cross between an IS250 and an LFA.
Honda / Acura
Honda is showing hopes to its admirers of a new Accord Coupe concept that most positively can be expected by mid-2012. On the other hand, Acura is up with the next-generation hybrid, named, NSX.
MINI
Mini, a BMW product will this time bring forward a MINI Roadster, a lovely and sporty two-seater that may carry a 1.6-litre petrol engine.
Audi
Audi too is not legging behind and is up with some concept about its future new generation car, though not much is made clear and known.
Volvo
Volvo will also have hybrid line-up and strategy to put light on in Detroit.
