The Japanese automaker giant Nissan is all set to unveil its new concept vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show, which starts October 23. Known as the “Land Glider”, the vehicle is a light weight electric car which has a narrow body. The car would be set at the designer centre of the company for a preview before the motor show. The unique thing about this concept car is that it can lean its body just like a motorcycle to shift the centre of gravity.
The Yokohama based company Nissan made it clear that the car has been manufactured keeping in mind the city dwellers. The car which measures 3.1 meters in length and 1.1 in width has a cocoon like shape and can lean as much as 17 degrees when you turn it in corners. The C.E.O. of the company, Carlos Ghosen expects a sharp increase in the market for electric car by the year 2020 and this probably explains the boosted investment of the company in such cars. Nissan is also expected to launch their Leaf Electric car much earlier than Toyota in the beginning of April.
According to Masatoshi Nishimoto, a Tokyo based Auto analyst Nissan is aggressively trying to catch up with the automakers who manufacture hybrid cars. It is expected though that the electric vehicles will make up less than 1 percent of the overall global car production in the year 2015. Apart from the Land Glider Nissan is also expected to launch the Leaf and the Fuga sedan at the upcoming Tokyo show.
