The brand new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG put all the speculations to rest when it finally got launched at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt on September 10 this year. The AMG is reportedly the first car to be entirely conceived and styled by the AMG division. The photos and the videos that have been leaked from the inside carefully did mange to create a stir among the car lovers all over the world.
The 2010 SLS-AMG is a supercar with a 6.3 liter V8 engine which has been front mounted with 0 inch rear wheels. The car has a maximum power of 571hp and with 6800 rpm and the peak torque of 650 Nm can be obtained at 4750 rpm. The 7-speed double clutch transmission of this machine lets you notch up a speed of 0 to 100 in just 3.8 seconds. Mercedes-Benz also made it public that an electric powered eDrive version will also be made available that would give a combined power output of 53hp and 880 Nm of torque. The gullwing doors make the car super stylish and definitely a design icon keeping the legacy of the company.
The SLS-AMG has sports car engineering with a two meter bonnet and an extendable aerofoil. There are as many as six large cooling air intakes and the headlamps which have been arranged vertically give the car a dominant aura. Gorden Wagener who is the head of design of Mercedes Benz, assured the car will definitely be the most alluring sports car of the 21st century and will inspire the design of another generation of Mercedes Benz sports cars.
