The Verso-S, at less than 4 meters, is the shortest car in the whole of Europe’s MPV market and the practical design, flexible interior and comfortable built makes this car a great car. Toyota has also said that it will introduce a series of upgrades to the Aygo and iQ. The iQ will get a complete revamp for its interior so as to enhance the quality, whereas the Aygo will get new colour scheme and a brand new multimedia system.

For Toyota, the Paris Auto Show will be primarily about the Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, as it will celebrate the success of the recently launched Auris HSD (built in the UK). The Auris HSD is the first full hybrid car in the C-segment. This is not all for Toyota; the list of things to celebrate for doesn’t end here. Toyota will also celebrate the success of the European Prius, which has passed the 200,000 mark. Overall we can say that this year’s Auto show in Paris seems to be all about Toyota.

Hyundai’s i-flow concept car made its debut in the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year
and it carries forward Hyundai’s new evocative form language called “fluidic sculpture”.
The elegant, flowing lines create a bionic and futuristic shape and at the same time
contribute immensely to the cars aerodynamics. The carbon emission of this car is very
low at 85g/km and the fuel consumption is very low too at 3l/100km. The diesel hybrid
power train from Hyundai also plays a major role in creating such fuel efficient vehicle.

The i-flow concept is 4.780mm long and has a wheelbase of 2.800mm and it is a pioneer
in the traditional European market. The design is almost dramatic, like a sculpture and
both the interior as well as the exterior is very elegantly done but without losing the
sportiness.

The name itself gives an idea of the car, which justifies the name to a tee. It has a flowing
design and is very stylish. Hyundai is expected to launch another car in similar lines next
year and it looks to give the i-flow some real competition.

It is no doubt a great car both in terms of looks as well as performance, but the USP of
this car is not the flowing design but the eco friendly engine. Hyundai has always been
committed towards the environment and has invested great deal in creating technology
that will minimize the carbon emission, thus protecting the environment. The i-flow with
its flowing design and environment friendly as well as fuel efficient features will surely
attract a good audience.

The first images of the Pop were recently released by Kia and this follows the several teaser images that Kia had given out earlier. The basis of this model from the South Korean auto giants is to draw attention of the masses towards electric vehicles, especially in the urban areas. Although the concept is looking at spreading awareness about electric vehicles, Kia is making no compromise in terms of design. It and has been designed by Peter Schreyer.

Apart from spreading awareness about electric vehicles, Kia, with this car will look to enter the lucrative European market that is witnessing a great demand for micro sized cars. Kia has already proved that it is very capable of using this technology during the Chicago Auto Show where it showcased the Ray concept. It is a really good concept considering the kind of environmental issues we are facing of late and such cars could be very handy when it comes to save energy and limit the carbon emission.

At 118 inches, Pop is a very small car and Kia has adopted some of the finest technologies of modern time that blends perfectly with incredible design to offer a great car. The car is equally impressive in the inside as the exterior. 

This year’s Moscow Auto Show saw the unveiling of the latest sedan from Renault, the Latitude. Renault plans to sell this car in over 50 markets across the globe, which includes a number of Western European markets. Renault has seen some tough times in the midsize car segment and with the Latitude it hopes to regain its position at the top of this market. Renault’s share of the midsize car segment has gone down significantly and this was mainly because of the massive failure of the Passat-size Laguna. It has not even been able to hit the 50% mark in terms of sales.

Although Renault is very hopeful of this car, it has already drawn some attention in form of a controversy. The Auto Show in Paris will be a big test for Renault as the French unions will protest the fact that this car wasn’t built in Franc but Korea. It remains to be seen how much impact these protests will have in the performance of this car.

The Latitude is roughly the size of Chevrolet Malibu, has the option of two gasoline engines-a 2.5 ltr and a 2.0 ltr. Some of the features of this sedan include air quality management system and a massaging driver’s seat. Also, the air condition system can be managed by each of the seat occupants. All in all, it looks to be a fairly interesting car and the fact that technology from the likes of Nissan and Samsung has been used makes it a great prospect.

This car carries the tradition of the ‘50s and ‘60s in North America, when such vehicles were brought by the surfers. Such cars are generally big vehicles with bodywork framed with timber. However, the Spark Woody isn’t built of wood like the original woodies but has been covered Di-Noc wood grained vinyl paneling, which maintains the woody effect.

This car has been closely associated with surfing for decades and it was but obvious that the venue to showcase the latest model would be a surfer’s destination. Chevrolet chooses Newqualy, one of the most popular surfing venues and very well known for its surfing culture. Here the Atlantic Ocean and the British Isles meet at perhaps the narrowest peninsula and makes for excellent setting for surfing.

The Spark Woody is the latest in the Art Spark series that was designed by Chevrolet Europe last year. The first of the series was a unique and innovative interpretation by the famous German fashion designer, Smeillinener and it debuted at an art competition organized by Chevrolet in Berlin last year. This car symbolizes the true surfer spirit and manages to re create the surfer cars of the ‘50s and the ‘60s. All the car loving surfers across the globe will be eagerly waiting for this car to be launched.

It is no longer a new concept to use Facebook for promoting brands and products. Ford is also not new to this. The motor giant is using the Facebook Page to unveil its iconic Explorer’s 2011 model. This campaign has been running for quite a while now and there have been several teaser photos as well videos that have been posted so far since Ford announced the launch earlier this year.

Scott Monty, Communication Manager said that the best way to promote the all new Explorer was through as it was a sure shot way of reaching out to its audiences. The first day saw a whopping 53,000 people visiting the Ford Explorer page on Facebook and it exceeded Ford’s expectations.

This is the first time that any car has been unveiled over a social networking site and not an auto show. The main reason behind Ford’s decision to unveil this highly anticipated car in this fashion was that, they wanted the entire focus to be on them and in a regular auto show there are too many cars on display to get this sort of attention. Apart from this, the other reason stated by Ford was that auto shows can at times be a one way communication, whereas on Facebook it is far more interactive.

The Facebook page was primarily used to reveal photos and interviews with engineers and designers before the actual unveiling of the car. This has surely given this car a head start that very few cars have received till day. There are ample chances of this trend to be soon adopted by others too. 

BMW, the world’s leading car manufacturer is all set to create a new chapter in the Sports Activity Vehicle space, which in itself is a first of its kind. It was originally launched in late 1999 as the 2000 model and the BMW X5 totally changed the dynamics of the automotive industry.

The 2011 model is slated to be launched later this year and everyone is eagerly waiting for this revolutionary vehicle. The BMW X5 has made a significant breakthrough by proving that the driving dynamics, linear control and responsiveness typical of any BMW could be made compatible with versatility, utility and all other road capabilities.

This car will feature enhanced abilities like powertrains and a very well etched design. The powertrains and enhanced design are the result of the endless hours the BMW engineers and designers put in to create over 4000 additional parts. The international auto show in New York later this year will see the launch of this car in the North American market.

The design of the body of 2011 BMW X5 is marked by very well balanced proportions which highlight its powerful presence and elegance. An extended wheelbase, rear body overhangs, short front and large yet light allow wheels give it fantastic and balanced look. The beautifully flared square shaped wheel arches give an indication of its all-wheel drive traction as well as other roads capability. We will have to wait until it hits the road to get a feel of this vehicle but the first looks definitely promise that it will be a path breaking car.

The new Peugeot 508 will replace the previous large family car Peugeot 407 and is termed as the future family car. It will also replace the Peugeot 607, which is even larger. This is because there are no immediate plans for replacing this car with a similar one, so the Peugeot 508 will have to fill its shoes for the time being.

The Peugeot 508 will have many similarities with the Citroen CR, which is also being produced simultaneously with the Peugeot 508 at its plant in Rennes-La-Janais. These two cars will have the same platform and almost all the engine options will also be similar. Peugeot will look to capture a greater market share with this twin launch.

The primary reason for replacing the Peugeot 407 is its increasingly decreasing market share in 2008 and 2009. Peugeot is desperate to regain its leadership position in this segment and with the launch of Peugeot 508 it hopes to be able to do so. The new model will be longer than the previous model by almost 5 inches (12 cm). It will also have a number of additional features in order to woo the buyers. Moreover, in terms of looks it has been given a major up enhancement as well. It has been marketed as a family car and with a longer size it will be more comfortable.

It will be unveiled in Paris during the motor show later this year as a concept. There have been several leaked spyshots of this car initially but the definite pictures were available on the web earlier this month.

According to the French Automakers, the DeZir marks a new beginning for a new breed of Renault concept cars. Renault plans to manufacture a series of concept cars which will be largely influenced by the DeZir.

The new designs are primarily based on three key words- simple, warm and sensuous. Although Renault didn’t explain what DeZir exactly referred to, but we assume it stands for desire or desir in French. However, Renault did say that the “Z” stood for Renault’s Z.E series which is a symbol of zero emission vehicles.

Renault has made special efforts to keep the weight of the car to the minimum and for this they have used Kevlar for the body of DeZir. It weights a meager 1,830 pounds. It has been built on a cylindrical steel frame and has a double-wishbone suspension, just like the Megane Trophy race car. The tires are 245/35R21 and has a full under body fairing.

For an electric car, it is surprisingly powerful, emitting 148 horsepower and a torque of 167 pound feet. Renault seems to have come up with a great vehicle and the new design head Laurens van den Acker does make a strong statement with his first design with Renault.

Ford Mondeo is all set to get a face lift for the coming year. Ford, one of the largest car manufacturers recently shared some images of the car, before its worldwide launch later this year (August 25). Ford chose the Auto Show in Moscow to showcase its most popular model and it was strategically chosen as Moscow is a very significant market for Ford.

The latest Ford Mondeo is all set to hit the European market in September, this year. Ford has said that it has added several new features to this new model, both externally as well as internally. The exterior will see many tweaks, which includes new grilles and a brand new bumper in the front, which has LED lights that work even in daylight.

Other prominent feature is the recreated rear lights, which again use LED technology. Even the cabin has been given a new look and a modified door makes it a great vehicle. This latest Mondeo will also feature a satellite navigation system. Other features include a lane departure warning system, a driver alert and an auto high-beam. Ford claims that these features are first timers in any Ford model.

The Mondeo 2011 will feature a high performance 2 liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine that is laced with 237 horsepower. It will also introduce a very powerful 2.2 ltr Duratorg TDCi engine with this model and it will offer 12% more power. Although, Ford gave away many details about the car, it said that it will release the technical details closer to the date of it launch.
