This year’s Motor Show in Geneva saw Audi come up with its latest technology for motor vehicles. Audi’s A8 Hybrid is set to change the laws of motors cars in terms of performance as well as fuel consumption. This technology will enable cars to accelerate to a 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds and the maximum speed would touch the 235km/hr mark.
In spite of such power packed performance, the fuel consumption will be relatively low, about 6.2 liters for 100 km. It is incredible how this concept will turn cars in high performing beasts with very little fuel consumption.
The combustion engine is a high-tech power plant, 2.0 TFSI. It is a four cylinder unit and has been awarded the best engine award for five years in running. This is a true example of Audi’s philosophy of downsizing.
This engine has a 1984 cc displacement and the 2 balancer shafts ensure an almost vibration less and quiet performance which perfectly suits Audi A8 luxurious character. The hydraulically operated clutch linking its 2.0 TFSI and the electric motor makes sure that the car is powerful right from the beginning.
The hi-tech lithium-ion battery is very compact and weighs much lesser than many other batteries and yet is very powerful. It has a very good ventilation system and maintains the right temperature for operation. Even with so many features it surprisingly has enough luggage space (400 liters).
The A8 Hybrid is an extremely pleasurable drive and is very well suited for city and residential suburbs driving. It truly sets new benchmark in the industry.
