The 2010 Geneva Motor Show will become the platform for the launch of the new Audi A1 e-tron Concept. The new member of the Audi’s e-tron model series is a Mega City Vehicle. The concept has a ground breaking technology and comes with a powerful electric motor that has zero emission level. The battery of the car can also be charged with a combustion engine that is present internally. The power of the electric motor is 102hp.
The first member in the Audi e-tron family made its appearance at the IAA in Frankfurt/Maine in 2009. The latest model of the Audi A1 e-tron is a premium class car. It was designed keeping in view the European and North American metropolitan areas. The two door MCV car can accommodate four passengers and is driven by electric power.
Audi has also introduced a thermal management system which would ensure that the car battery, the power electronics and its electric motor are kept within their permissible temperature windows. The electronic motor of the car is mounted transversely with a low mounting position. It has an average output of 45kW with a maximum of 75kW.
The Audi A1 e-tron promises an amazing driving experience and hardly makes any noise. It can reach a top speed of 130 km/h. The car has rear diffusers which make the low emissions possible. Designed to compete with the Mini, the concept car is expected to be available in the market by November this year at an attractive price of £13,000.
